Here's how to create your own adorable lion hat out of paper!

I created this craft for pre-schoolers during a recent vacation bible school. I precut all of the pieces for the kids, making this craft cheap, fun, and easy to do. I also used the pattern and dimensions below to create a hat for myself, which means this tutorial should work for just about anyone. Have fun!

1. Download and print the lion pattern using the link provided in the supplies list. Cut out the pattern pieces and trace onto the color paper indicated (or any other colors you decide to use). Cut out the traced pieces.

2. Cut two strips of orange construction paper 1.75 inches by 12 inches using the same paper used to make the lion's mane (1.75 inches by 11 inches would probably work as well if using card stock instead of construction paper).

3. Tape the two strips of orange paper together to form one long strip.

4. Glue and then tape the mane to the long strip of orange paper you created in step number 3. The bottom of the mane piece should be flush with bottom edge of the long strip of orange paper. Center the mane on the long orange strip of paper. After glueing the mane to the orange strip, further secure the mane with tape. Place any tape that will show on the front of the mane in the center of the mane. This will allow you to cover the tape on the front side in the next step.

5. Glue on the face pieces as pictured below.

6. Measure the approximate circumference of your child's head and tape the long orange strip in a circle that matches the measured circumference.

7. Draw a black line from the tip of the nose to the bottom of the hat, and you're ready to go! Grrrr!
