Katy is very into imaginative play right now. Two of her favorite pretend games are tienda de bebe and playa.
To play tienda de bebe, Katy sets various baby items in a long line along the back of the couch. Then I sit at the cash register while Katy goes shopping. Katy pushes her little shopping cart, with her baby seated inside, and picks a few items at a time to buy. Once she's shopped several times and bought everything in the store, we empty her shopping bag and do it all over again.
Playa usually begins with Katy packing a small basket with fake food and two or three of my tea towels. We then travel in a fake car to the beach. First we eat the picnic on one of the tea towels, although I'm never permitted to eat until she has divided up all the food. After eating, we put on our bathing suits, which are always hanging in some designated place on the wall that only she knows, and jump in the water to swim. You must actively swim in the fake water and cannot use this time to sneak in a nap. After swimming, we dry off with a tea towel and travel home.
I've played a lot of tienda de bebe and playa lately.
