Easter Time/Pascua

This year for Easter, Katy went to two easter egg hunts, she helped me make Easter goodies, and she wore a beautiful Easter dress Gigi made for her.

Este año, en celebración de Pascua, Katy fue a dos búsquedas de huevos de Pasque, me ayudó a hacer postres de Pascua, y se puso apuesto un vestido bonito que Gigi hecho.

Chris and I both, without the other knowing, went shopping for treats to put in Katy's Easter basket.  I bought a truck, which I hid in the closet in our office.  The day before Easter, I heard Katy exclaim, "Look!"  When I went to see what was happening, I found Katy in the office closet with the truck I had hidden.

Chris y yo ambos, sin saber el uno al otro, fuimos a comprar regalos para la canasta de Pascau de Katy. Compre un camion, que escondí en el armario en nuestra oficina.  El día antes de pascua, oí Katy exclamó, "Mira!"  Cuando fui a ver que estaba pasando, encontré Katy en el armario en la oficina con el camion que había encontrado.

Katy also had Easter pictures made.  They are too pretty not to share.

Little People

My parents saved a lot of the toys I played with as a child, including a ton of Little People.  I love seeing Katy play with these same toys and even more, I love discovering all the creative ways she plays with them.   

Mis padres guardaron muchos de los juguetes que tuve cuando era joven, incluyendo un montón de Little People.  Me gusta mucho a ver Katy jugando con los mismos juguetes y aun mas, me gusto mucho a descubrir todos las maneras creativas que ella juega.     

Katy's House/La Casa de Katy

My neighbor and good friend Heidi gifted us a box she transformed into a house for her niece and nephew who visited her over spring break.  Within a few hours, I transformed it into Katy's house.  The box is very sturdy and I expect it to last quite some time.  Hooray for creative, free, recycled toys!

Mi vecino y amiga buena Heidi nos regaló una caja que ella transformó a una casa para su sobrino y sobrina que visitaron a ella durante los vacaciones de la primera.  Dentro de unas horas, lo transformé a la casa de Katy.  La caja es muy rebusto y pienso que durará por un tiempo largo.  Hurra por los juguetes creativos, libres, y reciclados!

Small Successes/Exitos Pequeños

Only five blogs into my new plan to write my blogs in both English and Spanish, I learned something incredibly useful.  Well, I've learned several things, but I learned one thing in particular that really excites me.  I learned that the preterite tense of the verb "to be" is conjugated exactly the same as the preterite tense of the verb "to go."  I've always clearly understood that fui, fuiste, fue, fuemos, and fueron meant I went, you went, he/she/it went, we went, and they went, respectively, but I did not understand why these same words were used in other contexts.  Nonetheless, somehow I figured how to use these words without really understanding why.  Now I know!  Fui, fuiste, fue, fuimos, and fueron also mean I was, you were, he/she/it was, we were, and they were, respectively.

Solo cinco blogs en mi plan nuevo para escribir mis blogs in Ingles y Español y ya aprendí algo nuevo y increíblemente util.  Pues, había aprendido varias cosas, pero aprendí recientamente algo que me hace mucha emoción.  Aprendí que el pretérito del verbo ser es el mismo que el pretérito del verbo ir.  Siempre he sabido que fui, fuiste, fue, fuemos, y fueron significan el pretérito del verbo ir pero no entendí porque se usan las mismas palabras en otro contextos.  Sin embargo, de alguna manera, aprendí como usar esas palabras sin entender la razón exactamente.  Ahora yo se!   Fui, fuiste, fue, fuimos, y fueron también significan el pretérito del verbo ser!

I definitely needed this boost of encouragement because writing my blogs in Spanish is, at times, so incredibly tedious and time consuming.

De seguro, necesité este aliento porque escribir mis blogs in Español es, a veces, tan tedioso y require mucho tiempo.

Good Night Moon/Buenas Noches Luna

Katy and I recently checked out from the library the book Good Night Moon by Margaret Wise Brown.  I had seen the book several times and knew it was a classic children's book but I was never drawn to it, probably because the Spanish version doesn't rhyme nearly as well as the English version.  After finally checking it out, however, Katy was quickly drawn to it and we read it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.  Katy's favorite parts of the book were references to the comb.  Every time we read about the comb, she ran to the bathroom to retrieve her Papi's black comb and then returned to place Papi's comb over the picture of the comb on the page before her. 

Katy y Yo recientemente sacamos de la biblioteca el libro Buenas Noches Luna escrito por Margaret Wise Brown.  Había visto eso libro varios veces y supe que es un libro de niños clásico pero nunca quise sacarlo, probablemente porque la traducción Español no rima bien como el texto Ingles.   Después de saque finalmente este libro, sin embargo, a Katy le gustó instantáneamente y leímos una y otra y otra y otra y otra y otra vez.  Los partes favorito del libro de Katy fueron sobre el peine.  Cada vez que leímos sobre el peine, Katy corrió al baño para agarrar el peine negro de su Papi y luego regresó para poner el peine de sue papi sobre el dibujo del peine en la pagina del libro.  

A couple weeks into Katy's obsession with Good Night Moon, I learned from that a nearby library had a Good Night Moon display.  With our book in hand, we visited the library and read the book in a living version of the great green room.  I just wish I had remembered to take Papi's black comb with us.    

Un par de semanas en la obsesión de Katy con el libro Buenas Noches Luna, enseño que una biblioteca cera tuvo una area decorado como Good Night Moon.  Con nuestro libro en mano, visitamos esa biblioteca and leímos el libro en un versión vivo de la gran habitación verde.  Solo deseo que había recordado a traer el peine negro de Papi con nosotros.  

Visiting the Farm/Visitando la Granja

Chris, Katy, and I went to the stock show last weekend.  While driving to the stock show, we told Katy we were going to see farm animals.  She understood that to mean we were going to the farm.  We played along, not seeing any harm in calling it the farm.

Chris, Katy, y Yo fuimos a la exposición de ganado el fin de semana pasada.  Mientras estábamos manejando al stock show, dijimos a Katy que íbamos a ver los animales de la granja.  Katy entendió que íbamos a la granja.  Chris y yo no corregimos a Katy porque no pensamos que era una problema a decir que la exposición de ganado era la granja.

Of course, there was a lot more than farm animals at the stock show, including a huge carnival at the entrance.  We spent the day looking at loads of animals, eating fried foods, watching a dock jumping dog competition, and exploring other exhibits.  Katy also rode a little train pulled by a four wheeler all by herself not once, but twice.  

Por su puesto, era mucho mas en la exposición de ganado que animales de una granja, incluyendo un carnival grande a la entrada.  Pasamos el día miranda a un moton de animales, comiendo comida frita, mirando a un concurso de perros brincando del muelle, y explorando otros exposiciones.  Tambien, dos veces Katy montó sola en un trenecito de un moto de cuatro ruedas.

Later during the week, I was driving with Katy when we passed a carnival on the side of the road.  Katy got excited and started saying (in Spanish), "The farm, the farm!"  And then started talking about the animals she saw at the farm.  Whoops.  I guess we shouldn't have played along in calling the stock show the farm.

Luego durante la semana, estaba manejando con Katy cuando pasamos un carnival al lado de la calle. Katy estaba muy entusiasmado a ver el carnival and empezó a gritar, "la granja, la granja!"  Y ella empezó a hablar de los animales que vio en la granja.  Aye! Pienso que no era una idea buena a decir a Katy que la exposición de ganado era una granja.
